IntroductionThis page provides an overview of the Micronas nGene PCIe controller and Micronas DRX Fourth Generation DVB-T demodulator. Overview of nGeneComing soon. Overview of DRX-DThe Micronas DRX-D is a DVB-T demodulator chip and has been used on PCIe cards along with the nGene PCIe interface, and USB 2.0 sticks. Cards based on nGene / DRX-DThe following nGene-based cards are known to exist:
The first nGene card, the Prolink/PixelView PlayTV PCX600 was shown at CeBIT 2005 but it seems that it never made production. The first production nGene card is the Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT and is still in production as of December 2008. The DRX3975D demodulator is also used in some USB 2.0 sticks (not Micronas nGene based) such revision B of the Hauppauge HVR-900 hybrid stick. Driver InformationComing soon. Driver TweaksComing soon. Linux SupportLinux support for Micronas hardware is very difficult because Micronas seem unwilling to release documentation for their hardware. It is a shame that the company takes this view because the quality of the hardware is very good to excellent (on Windows). The nGene is completely unsupported. Support for the DRX3975D exists for certain USB sticks (e.g. Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900) but has been reverse engineered from the Windows driver. A binary driver exists for the Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT, but no source code is available. |
