Please note that this FAQ has not been updated for several years.  Most of this information is incorrect for GeForce and newer chips.

Q) I’ve just bought some more memory, and have set the AGP Aperture to 128MB. When I rebooted, I got a Blue Screen Of Death at startup and now it’s stuck in 16 colour VGA mode.

A) Set the AGP Aperture to 64MB as a temporary solution. Try installing newer drivers, for example 5.32 which is one of the best drivers for TNT2 users. 3.77 definitely exhibits this problem in Windows Me, and a BIOS update didn’t help. You probably don’t need such a large aperture anyway.

Q) When I play Midtown Madness for an extended period of time, the graphics go choppy.

A) Update to the 5.13 or later drivers. I personally recommend 5.32 and it has proved problem-free for me in Windows 98SE and Windows Me.

Q) When I change screen resolutions in Windows 98/Me, the Start button gets corrupted graphics on it.

A) This is caused by a combination of having drivers newer than Detonator 2 (i.e. all drivers with version 6.xx and up) and the Yamaha S-YXG50/100+ SoftSynth. Either uninstall the SoftSynth, or downgrade the drivers.

Q) I’ve decided to totally re-install the TNT2 drivers by switching to VGA mode, then starting from scratch. However, my computer locks up when the Detonator drivers are installed.

A) Make sure that the TNT Clock over-clocking utility is not set to run at startup otherwise this will happen. Check for it and try again.

Q) I’m running Windows 2000 and after resuming from S1 suspend, my display is corrupted.

A) This is a problem with certain drivers in the 6.xx Detonator 3 series. Try using the 6.31 or earlier drivers or the newer 1x.xx drivers. What is happening is your display card is getting over-clocked.

Q) When I watch DVDs, I get black lines around the edges of the screen.

A) These don’t matter on televisions because all TVs over scan (whereby the edges of the picture are hidden). In the newer Detonator 3 and all Detonator XP drivers, there is an option for Overlay Zoom. This will cause the overlay to over scan in the same way as a TV. Just move the slider until the borders disappear. They are more noticeable on TV shows, especially Friends.
