What drivers should be installed on Windows XP?The drivers that you need to install depends upon the devices you have enabled in the BIOS.
X1250 IGP - only Bob deinterlacing is availableThe Radeon X1250 IGP on the K9AG Neo2-Digital motherboard uses main system memory as video memory. With AMD Athlon processors, the memory controller is in the CPU rather than on the motherboard. As a result, the video memory bandwidth is dependent upon both the system memory speed an the HyperTransport link speed between the CPU and the IGP. Athlon 64 processors use HyperTransport 2.0 at 800MHz or 1.0GHz, and this limits the memory bandwidth available to the X1250. The deinterlacing modes available are dependent upon video memory bandwidth and video memory bandwidth usage increases with screen resolution. Therefore, when running at a high resolution such as 1920x1200 at 60Hz, only Bob deinterlacing will be available. When running at a lower resolution such as 1280x1024 at 60Hz, more advanced deinterlacing modes such as Motion Adaptive will be available. If you require Vector Adaptive at 1920x1200 then it will be necessary to use an add-in PCIe graphics card. How can I disable the IEEE1394 fire-wire controller? There appears to be a BIOS issue which means that the option to enable/disable the IEEE1394 controller only appears after clearing the CMOS. Once the CMOS settings have been saved it is not possible to enable or disable the IEEE1394 controller. Does this motherboard have any issues with PCIe TV tuners disappearing after standby? The following PCI-express TV tuners are known to work without problem in BIOS 1.6 and 1.7:
This was done in conjunction with an Antec NeoHE 430 power supply and using S3 standby in both Windows XP and Windows Vista. I receive an error message on POST stating too many cold boots due to overclocking settings, and USB keyboard doesn't workIf you have a failed overclocking attempt, pressing the power button three times in succession will load a fail-safe mode. This allows you to get the system back up and running without having to reset CMOS settings. However, there is a problem with this. When it loads the default CPU/memory settings, you will see a message on the screen from the BIOS, asking you to press any key OTHER than DEL to enter setup. However, no matter what key you press the system will not boot. This occurs because the message is generated before the USB controller initialises and therefore a USB keyboard can not be used to continue booting the system. You must plug in a PS/2 keyboard to proceed past this message. High DPC LatencyThe MSI K9AG Neo2-Digital appears to suffer from high DPC latency spikes with BIOS version 1.7 that can not be attributed to any driver or hardware device. Rolling back to BIOS 1.6 resolves the issue. The DPC latency spikes can be seen with the DPC Latency Checker utility and will typically occur at 10 second intervals but this appears to vary. Some of the symptoms observed during these bursts of high DPC latency were:
These issues were also completely resolved by downgrading to BIOS v1.6. These issues are apparently resolved in a Beta BIOS which can be requested from MSI technical support. Dell 2407WFP-HC USB hub and card reader doesn't workThe Dell 2407WFP-HC USB hub and built-in memory card reader does not appear to work correctly with the USB ports on the I/O panel of the K9AG Neo2-Digital. It is not detected by the BIOS as a removable storage device and appears as an Unknown Device once in Windows, or will be intermittently detected with or without a "device malfunction". It may also be detected as a USB 1.1 device. The USB features of the monitor work correctly when connected to the USB headers on the motherboard, such as a USB bracket which sits in the expansion slots (but connects to the USB header on the motherboard) or front panel connectors (again, connected to a USB header). |
